What is DESAFÍO SIED LATAM?

SIED is a program of NTT DATA FOUNDATION and Botín Foundation designed to promote innovative initiatives that help to reduce the digital divide. It is aimed at non-profit foundations and/or associations in Latin America.

We are one of the winners of DESAFÍO SIED LATAM 2023.

What is our value proposition?

  • Promote reading to be expressed through a technological product, developing skills and competencies, applying transversally through the STEAM model, HELIX, and other innovative pedagogical models.

  • Training and support for native teachers in active, innovative and technological methodologies.

Who benefits from this?

  • DIRECT BENEFICIARIES:
    Children aged 8 to 14 among the 565 enrolled in the island's schools who have low reading comprehension and literacy difficulties.

  • INDIRECT BENEFICIARIES:
    Native Quechua educators and facilitators aged approximately between 24 and 50.

What is the impact?

Project Phases:

(Initial Phase: 50, I Phase: 150, II Phase: 250, III Phase + 400 children and adolescents).

(Initial Phase: 5, I Phase: 20, II Phase: 50, III Phase + 100 educators and facilitators).


How will we do it?

We will provide free online and blended courses in STEAM & ENTREPRENEURSHIP methodology and online and face-to-face training and support for educators and facilitators in innovative, inclusive and transversal pedagogical models for all subjects such as Helix and others.

1.- Testing and Diagnostic Pilot: It was carried out in July 2023.

2.- Phases: 4 Phases (Initial Phase: 5 months, I Phase: 1 year, II Phase: 2 years, III Phase: 3 years).

3.- Through Strategic Alliances.

Who are our allies?

The community of Amantani Island, Gian Carlo Diaz Pierola (author of the book “Qhary y Yaccu”), Tecky Brains, Aprender Foundation and the support of Botin Foundation's RED DE TALENTO SOLIDARIO.

What is our ROADMAP?

Initial Phase (5 months): 

  • Diagnosis, Model definition and Fundraising.

  • Implementation, Training and Support, and Evaluation.

- 1st year: Continuation of the courses, Volunteer Program, Strategic Alliances, Internet Installation, Library Implementation, Computer Room Installation, Evaluation and Continuous Improvement.

- 2nd year: Integration of courses with the Organization's other initiatives, , Launching of the Ecotourism Business Model, Evaluation and Continuous Improvement.

- 3rd year: Replicability of the model, Co-creation of consulting platform, Virtual platform, Evaluation and Continuous Improvement. 

What phase of the project are we in?

We are currently looking for strategic allies and funding resources to implement the Initial phase (5 months).
